As a little girl, my grandmother gave me an apron made of black and white gingham material and showed me how to sew white crosses on the black squares.  Then she showed me how to do some simple embroidery.  I embroidered a set of dish towels with kittens.  A number of years ago, I did my first cross stitch.  It was a stamped kit.  It was a lot of fun and it took me about a year to do.  But, it wasn’t until my friend really encouraged me a few years ago to try some counted cross stitch that my passion was awakened.  I fell in love with the craft and it has grown to be more than a hobby – hence the motto – "It’s not a hobby…It’s an obsession!!"

I live an hour and a half away from a good needlework store.  It is so frustrating.  I’m sure I’m not alone, so I decided to start an on-line cross stitch supply store.  My husband, Dennis, is a computer consultant and was very encouraging.  Dennis and I have been working for about 1 1/2 years to develop Acorn Needle. www.acornneedle.com.  A lot of time and love has gone into this website.  Acorn Needle is a great place for people to shop anytime from anywhere.
